The truths expressed in the sacred Scriptures were experienced by exceptional beings. In order to understand them, we must be able to rise to their level, to vibrate on their wavelength, and, above all, to live as they lived. Everything depends on the way you live; it was the way they lived that made it possible for the prophets and great Masters to approach the Godhead, and you must adopt this same way of life, so that you too may understand. There is no other method. Do not worry if you do not understand the Bible or other sacred texts right away for there are some difficult things in them. Just continue to read and reach upwards with your thoughts, asking that your life may be changed, that the Holy Spirit may come and illuminate you. Jesus told his disciples, ‘I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.’ No true understanding is possible without this contact with the Spirit.
