Principles and forms - forms change but principles are eternal

The whole created universe is but the consequence, the fruit of the relationship between these two opposing but complementary poles: the spirit and matter; or, to put it another way, between principles and forms. Human beings are not ready to live with principles alone, they need the support of material forms. The spirit incarnates into a body, the form that enables it to manifest itself on the physical plane. When it returns to other regions, it has no further use for this form and discards it. Form is always necessary but it does not last for long; God has not gifted form with eternal life. This is why heaven periodically sends Initiates, sages and great Masters to change the form of religions—but only the form, never the principles. The principles of love, wisdom, truth, freedom and sacrifice are common to all of humanity’s great religions, and these principles remain immutable and valid for all eternity.*
