Light - the substance of creation

Light, this impalpable substance which appears so weak, so harmless, is in fact the greatest force in the universe. It is this which God first called upon in order to make from it the matter of creation. It is thanks to light that the worlds turn in space and that stones, plants, animals and human beings are alive. This same idea is expressed by St. John at the beginning of his Gospel when he writes: ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.’ Yes, everything that was made came from this original light, the Word. This is why the science of the future will be the science of light and colour.
