Life - an instinctive and disorderly life leads to irreparable losses

Human beings do not realize that their disorderly lives burn up their most precious quintessences. They think that these quintessences replenish themselves automatically. That is not so. It is true that certain materials can be replenished, for Cosmic Intelligence has designed the human body in such a way that it makes up for certain losses as it goes along. But if people refuse to act in accordance with the laws of wisdom, if they indulge in excesses of any kind, the losses are irreparable. Those who live by the dictates of their instincts and passions without ever giving their soul or spirit a say, lose their most subtle quintessences. As they have no higher thoughts or altruistic feelings to counteract or improve their way of life, their energies are drawn exclusively from the physical plane, which is insufficient. In order to nourish their psychic and spiritual bodies, human beings need spiritual energies, and they can find these only by giving up certain inferior satisfactions – in other words, by making some sacrifices.
