God - a presence we must let in

Everything around us speaks to us of the presence of God. But for many people that is not enough – they want him to come and appear to them in person! And even then, that might not be enough. Look: what is more present, more visible, more dazzling than the sun? But if you stay barricaded behind closed shutters, you won’t even know it exists. If you want to see it, you must at least open a window, for the sun will not force itself upon you by coming in through the walls and shutters. In the same way, in order to discover the presence of God, we must at least open a small skylight. Yes, we are the ones who have to do something, not God. God is already doing what he has to do – he is there, and that is enough. It is up to us now to reach up to the higher level of consciousness, where his presence will be revealed to us.
