Gestures of consideration, respect and love - they reflect on you

You like it when people are considerate towards you, don’t you? In fact, you feel it is only natural. So why are you not considerate to every being and every thing? Even a flower—when you have to plant or water it, give it some attention. You will say that a flower feels nothing. Well, that is precisely where you are mistaken. Furthermore, it is not so much for the flower’s sake that you should show your appreciation, but for your own, because you will gain a virtue, a quality. You make a caring gesture of respect or love, and this gesture reflects on you. You need to apply yourself for years to all these little things and then, one day, you will reap the benefits. Do not go looking far and wide for what is close at hand. You will never find the solution to your problems outside of your everyday activities. And if you neglect these daily occupations, the invisible world will send you back to learn the hard way until you understand this truth.*
