Food - that we must become for the heavenly entities and the Lord

We eat every day. But do not be shocked if I tell you that we are also eaten. Yes, we are food for other entities – for the angels. They take our good thoughts and feelings, everything in us that is inspired by wisdom and love. The angels think of us as trees that produce flowers and fruit. When they come to pick them, they do not break our branches; on the contrary, they water us and take care of us, to help us give even more succulent fruit. But there are also ‘angels’ of another kind – dark entities, demons. They too have to find food, and they feast on humans whose evil intentions and negative feelings are delicious dishes for them, and so they rob them of all their energies, leaving them exhausted. There is nothing worse than being devoured by the dark spirits, and nothing more desirable than to serve as food for the heavenly entities. Thus the initiates tell us that we must offer ourselves up every day to the Lord, so that he can feed on us. They use this image to show us that humankind’s spiritual ideal is to be absorbed by the Lord and find our dwelling place in him.
