Truths, spiritual - living them before trying to convince others of them

When a spiritual truth is revealed to you, do not immediately impart it to others in order to persuade them that they too must adopt it. Begin by experimenting at length with it; do exercises with it, until it becomes embodied in you and you are at one with it. If you immediately want to convince others, you will lose it. However great your desire to share your discoveries, keep certain spiritual truths to yourself at first. Live with them, make them yours, so that they enlighten and sustain you and help you overcome the trials you will have to endure. Then, not only will they never leave you, but when you come to speak of them to others you will do so with such conviction, with such a ring of authenticity, that you will get them to accept them.
