Temptation - find the warning signs and as soon as they appear you will be alerted

Suppose you have a weakness that you find hard to resist: perhaps you are too fond of alcohol or women, or feel the urge to speak ill of others, squander money on useless purchases, or seek distractions when you should be working, and so on. Try to discover what signs precede this weakness, alerting you to approaching temptation. You will find that these signals always follow the same pattern, and they are a warning. Try and analyze yourself by recalling past events and seeing when your weakness showed up and what signs preceded it. You will discover that there was perhaps a sensation in your solar plexus or some discomfort, or a visual image in your mind’s eye, and so forth. Everyone receives warning signs, but these signs differ from person to person, so it is up to each of us to identify our own particular premonition. Once you manage to find these early warning signs, you will be able to master the situation, for as soon as they appear, you will know that you need to be careful and vigilant.
