Ship - an image illustrating the destiny of humanity

All the events that humanity, the solar system, and even the whole cosmos must undergo have been decreed since the beginning of time, and there is nothing we can do to change this. Imagine that you are travelling on a ship: there is a prearranged itinerary and scheduled ports of call—there is no way for you to alter its course. Nor can you leave this ship without finding yourself in the water. However, on board you can read, chat with your fellow travellers, sleep in your cabin, go up on deck to look at the ocean, and so forth. This image of a ship illustrates the destiny of humanity: we are all on board a ship whose itinerary has been mapped out by the Lord Himself, and there is absolutely nothing anybody can do to change it. Inwardly, we may do as we please—we can improve or demean ourselves—but the itinerary is not up to us.
