Sewing or embroidery - they tell the whole story of life

So many everyday actions have a symbolic significance of which people are totally ignorant. Have you ever thought about the meaning of sewing or embroidery? If you succeed in deciphering what the cloth, the needle, the thread and the design represent, you will understand that embroidery tells the whole story of life. The cloth is the feminine principle, the matter upon which the needle works. The needle is the will, the masculine principle that guides the thread, that is to say, thought. A needle can be threaded with strands that may be valuable or ordinary, colourful or drab, sturdy or fragile, and it can produce a design on the cloth that may be magnificent or very plain. The cloth can also represent the physical body. Through the impulse of the will, your thoughts work at the embroidery, and the design that begins to take shape is seen in the form of your body, the lines of your face, the expression of your eyes, which all tell the story of your life. Those who understand what it means to sew and embroider will become Initiates – that is, true artists. For only Initiates know how each one of us must work on the raw material of our own being in order to give it the most harmonious and radiant form.*
