Original sin - does not necessarily have consequences for all eternity

For centuries, the Church has taught Christians that the original sin of Adam and Eve has left something impure in human beings and that it is carried down from one generation to the next, with nothing for them to cleanse themselves of it: they are conceived in sin and born in sin, and it is impossible to avoid this fatality. Well, it is precisely by insisting on this idea and promulgating it to such a degree, that the Church prevents humanity from righting itself, for it lessens peoples' hope and desire to extricate themselves from their weak and limited situation. Of course, there is some degree of truth in the fact that humans are conceived in sin, because their parents and all those who went before pass on to them an already defective inheritance thanks to their unenlightened and impure behaviour, thoughts and feelings. But as for the idea that, ever since Adam and Eve, original sin is inevitably passed on from one generation to the next – no. If humans find the light and seek to live in this light, the sin of Adam and Eve no longer matters.
