Meeting with God - is always inner

Only a few mystics have known how to speak of their meetings with God. They have reported their actual experiences of such encounters, but they were inner encounters. No one has ever met God physically; and even if it were possible, it is doubtful that such a meeting would contribute anything much. Let us consider an analogy: you go out into the street and pass by a certain number of people. It can be said that you meet them. But, just because they have seen you does not mean they know who you really are, because you cannot be reduced to a physical form. Your true being, the one who thinks, loves and desires, is invisible to them, and to you as well. But do you doubt its existence? No. You acknowledge that you do not see yourself, and yet you would like to see God! You will say: ‘But, even if it is not exactly me, my body is visible proof that I exist.' But the body of God is also visible! It is the whole universe with the countless beings who inhabit it.
