Life, spiritual - being aware of the difficulties you will come across

You will not change over a few months or even a few years just because you nurture the ideal of a spiritual life. And the fact that you made this or that good resolution does not mean that things will happen just as you decided. Unfortunately, it is not so easy to get your instincts to obey your will and make wisdom and reason prevail. Why not? Because that is precisely when other forces also awaken in you to prevent your good plans from coming to fruition. And when you see you have not succeeded as you hoped to or in the time you hoped to, you will quite likely become discouraged and bitter and bother others with your hopeless pretensions. To walk the path of light and mastery is the best decision you can make. But you must know what the difficulties are; otherwise, the results can be worse than if you went on leading an ordinary life.
