Life on earth - developing our psychic and spiritual faculties

Our life on earth is an illusion, a dream, so what is the use of losing eternal life for the sake of an illusion that will soon vanish without a trace? Of course, we have to work in order to eat and clothe ourselves, put a roof over our heads, and to provide for our own needs and those of our family, but these things must not become an end in themselves. Each of these activities should be an occasion for you to develop your psychic and spiritual faculties, which are the only acquisitions you will keep for eternity. One day, all the other things you have amassed will abandon you, and you will find yourself naked and stripped of all possessions. You will even lose the knowledge that you have received, and when you come back to earth you will have to start learning all over again, for this wealth did not belong you. You did not acquire it through personal experience; other people gave it to you, or you took it from them. The only knowledge that you will be able to keep and bring back with you in your next incarnation is the knowledge that you yourself have tasted, verified, experienced, studied and applied in life.*
