Instruction - raise children to respect more important values

Many parents make the mistake of thinking that they have provided their children with the most essential thing in life: a good schooling! No, and this delusion only stirs up conflict between generations, because, later, when the children are knowledgeable, even erudite and influenced by who knows what philosophies, they confront their parents with convoluted speeches that fall on uncomprehending ears. The only thing that is clear to the parents is that their children have turned into strangers, and sometimes even enemies. So, these poor parents, who may have struggled to give their children the very best schooling, find to their dismay that their children now use this education to disparage and oppose them. But whose fault is that? The blame lies with the parents. Why didn’t they raise their children to respect values far more important than intellectual faculties? Why didn’t they work to acquire virtues and light so that however knowledgeable their children might become, they would still look up to them?*
