Imagination - it can be used for our enlightenment or for our ruin

Young people have little understanding of human nature, and it is no use relying on their schools to enlighten them. So, they do not know how dangerous it is to let their imagination drift aimlessly, for it is quite capable of debasing itself. Even teachers allow, and even encourage, youngsters to lose themselves in these nebulous states without realizing the danger these states present. They say, ‘Let him dream, he’s a poet, he needs to dream.’ What do they know about the world of dreams? Nature has given human beings extraordinary powers. The imagination is one of these powers and it can be used for their enlightenment or for their ruin. If young people allow their imagination to fall prey to any and every feeling or desire, they will end up being completely overwhelmed by negative forces.
