Human beings - they insist on sticking to their convictions

Why do people go and see a Master, an Initiate? To tell him of their misfortunes and their problems in the expectation that he will sort everything out and work miracles on their behalf! Well, people should understand that an Initiate can do nothing for those who come to him with their complaints without making any efforts to solve their own problems. He will not perform miracles for them. Life itself will teach them lessons and those lessons will be terrible. Human beings are hard-headed: they insist on sticking to their convictions and then, when they are faced with failure, they complain loudly without understanding that these failures stem from their refusal to bring themselves into harmony with the laws of nature. They all clamour, ‘I want this! I want that!’ and do everything to get what they want. The laws of nature, however, do not agree and are against gratifying such indiscriminate wishes. The problem is that human beings do not want to understand. They stubbornly insist on satisfying these desires until the day they end up broken. Why do they refuse to understand?*
