Human beings - in order to change them you must change yourself first

Some people believe that once they have read a few esoteric books, which they more or less understand, they are ready to open a school and have their own disciples. Will they really be able to enlighten people and help them to change? Well no, because to be able to change others, you must change yourself first. A young girl falls in love with an alcoholic and marries him, convinced that she will rescue him from his vice. Wanting to save someone is very commendable, but with what is she going to do so? Does she have enough know-how? Ultimately, not only does she fail to save him, but she, too, is driven to drink. There are many people who believe they will save humanity just the way they are. They do not ask themselves, ‘Do I have the knowledge, the love, the light, the purity and the will?’ They see themselves as equal to the task. They are there, they exist and that should be enough. Unfortunately, it is not, and they always make a mess of it.
