Happiness concerns the whole of our being - Most people confuse happiness with pleasure

Most people confuse happiness with pleasure. They imagine that whatever pleases, attracts or appeals to them will make them happy. But that is where they are wrong. Pleasure is a brief and enjoyable sensation that leads you to believe that if only you could prolong it indefinitely, you would be happy. Well, no. Why? Because the activities that give you an enjoyable sensation quickly and effortlessly do not for the most part belong to a very elevated plane. They concern only your physical body, perhaps your heart and barely your intellect. However, we cannot be happy when we seek to satisfy our physical body alone, or even our heart and mind, because such satisfactions are incomplete and short-lived. Happiness, unlike pleasure, is not a fleeting sensation; it is something that concerns the whole of our being.
