Fire - there are two types: the fire of suffering and the fire of divine Love

As fire is the most powerful element, it provides the most effective means of purification and transformation. Nothing withstands fire. This is why initiatic tradition teaches that to be transformed, human beings must pass through fire. There are two types of fire: the fire of suffering and the fire of divine love. All those who are so stubborn and obstinately determined to take the wrong path, and who can reflect and change only through hardship, are forced to undergo the fire of suffering. Those who want to escape this fire must work with the fire of love, which will make them glow with radiant light. And even if they still have to endure suffering—for here on earth we cannot escape hardship—they shall overcome these trials thanks to the fire of divine love burning ever more intensely within them. The fire of ordinary suffering enslaves people; the fire of divine love sets them free.*
