Fear - conquered by love
The best cure for fear is love. When you love, fear disappears. Knowledge can also be a remedy, but it is not as effective, because fear is an instinct, and knowledge does not belong to the realm of instinct. You cannot conquer and control an instinct by using reason, knowledge or explanations, but only with another instinct. And, in a way, love is also an instinct, since it is an uncontrollable impulse. Sometimes, reason can control fear, but the result is neither lasting nor certain. Whereas if you touch someone’s heart, they will throw themselves in the fire for you. If a young girl sees a stranger in danger, she may hesitate to save him, but if it is her beloved she is ready to do anything. So, to conquer fear, disciples must become more loving.
