Faults - our faith does not suffice to erase them

Religion insists on placing the emphasis on faith, which only serves to mislead the faithful. It is so convenient to think: ‘Since our faith saves us, behaving badly isn’t so serious. Life is difficult, and we have to get by somehow. We aren’t always honest or obliging or generous, but we believe in God, and this faith will save us!’ No, there are divine laws, and they are not impressed by the faith of those who do not conduct themselves properly, whatever justifications they may invent. No divine law will tolerate the use of faith as a pretext for minimizing or excusing our failings.
