Evil - a spur that drives human beings to work

Whenever evil forces have been unleashed, people have come forward to speak out on behalf of justice and goodness. They would never have had the opportunity to behave in such an exceptional way if such events had not occurred. The obvious conclusion is that trials and enemies compel us to draw upon inner resources we did not know we had. Opposition forces us to struggle, to exert ourselves and, in so doing, to discover our true worth. You will say that this is difficult. Of course, but it is the only intelligent way to surmount the obstacles on our path. So, instead of complaining and rebelling, thank God and say, ‘Because of these difficulties I will grow strong and surpass myself.’ Evil is a spur that drives human beings to work.*
