Doubt - its paralyzing effects

Doubt arrests movement; it paralyses. Notice what you feel, for example, when you begin to doubt the faithfulness of a friend: you no longer know how to interpret his gestures and words. Everything about him begins to appear suspect, and it is as if something is falling apart in your head and your heart. You will say that at times doubt is justified, because friends do not always turn out to be faithful. Yes, of course, but I use this example because undoubtedly you have had this experience, and because it can help you understand what happens when you allow yourself to be infiltrated by doubts about what is essential for you: the foundations of your existence, its meaning, and the path you are to follow. Here too, little by little, everything falls apart.
