Destiny - our afterlife is determined by our aspirations on earth

When you leave this world, each one of you will go to live in whichever region you have aspired to during your life on earth. If your aspirations were very elevated, you will go to a region of light;* but if they were vile and base, you will go to a region of darkness. Your destiny depends on your proper understanding of this law. If your heart yearns only for intelligence, love or beauty, you can be absolutely sure that nothing will have the power to prevent you from reaching the region of your aspirations. When human beings believe that they have only this one earthly life to live, they are ready to use all kinds of dishonest and criminal means to satisfy their desires – and they think that they are doing very well for themselves with their crooked ways. In fact, they are sadly mistaken: through ignorance, they are preparing terrible suffering for themselves in the next world.
