Communion - its cosmic dimensions

To commune is to enter into relationship with all creatures and with the living forces which animate rocks, plants, mountains, springs, the sun and the stars. To commemorate Jesus’ last supper with his disciples, Christians go to church and receive bread and wine; they call it Holy Communion. But receiving bread and wine, or the host, is not enough to truly commune. True communion is being able to establish contact, through love and wisdom, with all creatures in the universe. Only when we accord communion its true, cosmic dimension will we be able to say we are eating Christ’s flesh and drinking his blood. We will feel currents of pure, abundant energy circulating through every part of our being, and we will know this as eternal life, without beginning or end.
