Androgyne - uniting the two principles within ourselves
The whole human adventure is the search for a lost half. Men seek out women and women seek out men. They do not even know why they seek each other out, but that is what they do, instinctively: a voice tells them that this is how they will regain their primordial wholeness. From time to time, for a few minutes or a few seconds, they taste something of an indescribable happiness, a mysterious dilation, but it does not last and then, inevitably, disappointment and sorrow ensue. But as they never lose hope, they continue their search. And why is this? Why are human beings unable to fulfil their deepest aspirations? Because it is not on the physical plane that this union should first take place. What happens on the physical plane should only be the outcome of work previously completed on the psychic and spiritual planes. Otherwise, all they will find at best is fleeting pleasure and enjoyment. If some rare beings have succeeded in achieving lasting unity by merging on the physical plane, it is because they had previously done a great deal of inner work. Every human being must first seek to unite the two principles within themself. This is the philosophy of the androgyne, and it is the most exalted philosophy there is.*
