Truth - result of our capacity to perfect ourselves

Truth will never present itself as something so obvious that it imposes itself on us; neither is it something we can impose on others. It is we who, through an ordered and sensible psychic life, become capable of attaining the truth. And perhaps we will never even attain it, for truth is only the result of our capacity to perfect ourselves. So when certain people glory in belonging to the one true religion, this does not mean that they live the truth. A certificate of baptism does not guarantee possession of the truth. It is the efforts we make every day to wrest ourselves from our weaknesses that is most important: this is the only sign that we belong to the one true religion.
