Spiritual responsibilities - instead of crushing you, they lift you up
A spiritual Master, an Initiate, bears enormous responsibilities but he is not crushed by them, for spiritual responsibilities are not heavy or burdensome. If you want to spread light in the world, it may seem as though you are burdening yourself, but in reality, things become lighter for you. Why? Because the nature of the charge is different. Far from weighing you down, responsibilities of a divine, spiritual nature lift you up. It all depends on the nature of the charges you accept. Take for example a block of stone; it is heavy because it is subject to the gravitational force of the earth, but if you move it far enough from the earth to escape this attraction, it becomes weightless – it is light enough to float. So, if you know how to transport your burdens beyond the reach of the earth’s gravity, not only will they cease to weigh you down, but they will lift you up like a balloon, higher and higher. When a Master asks you to free yourself, he means that you must free yourself from all your prosaic, mundane activities in order to take on divine charges that will lift you up.
