Temptations - show themselves via warn­ing signs that we need to interpret

Everyone has one or several weaknesses, which they are unable to resist: they are too fond of alcohol, or of women; they have an urge to speak ill of others, to squander their money on useless purchases, to distract themselves when they ought to be working, and so on - there are no end of possibilities! To overcome these weaknesses, each person has to watch for the signs that tell them temptation is on the way. They will discover that the signs are always the same and are warnings. They should search themselves and try to remember instances from their past when this weakness showed itself and what the signs were that preceded it. They will find that the warning can be a feeling in the solar plexus, or one of unease, or an image that comes to them, and so on. There are always signs to warn you that temptation is at hand, but these are different for each person, so it is up to you to look for them. When you eventually discover these early warning signs, you will be able to master the situation, for as soon as they appear you will know that you need to be careful.
