Soul and spirit - which we must seek beyond appearances

Do not be so indifferent and negligent towards those around you. Learn to regard them with a feeling of sacredness, and, behind their appearance, behind the shape of their body or face, you will discover their soul and their spirit, which are the son and daughter of God. If you can be attentive to their soul and their spirit, all those creatures you have neglected and despised will seem extremely precious to you. Heaven itself, which has put them on earth under these guises, considers them as treasures, as vessels for the Divine. Therefore, with all those you meet, do not pay so much attention to physical appearance, fortune, situation or education, but consider the soul and the spirit. Tell yourself that even those walking about here like beggars or tramps are princes and princesses in the eyes of God who made them.
