Fire and light - spirit and soul

The spirit and the soul are manifestations within us of the two cosmic principles, the masculine and the feminine. The spirit represents fire, and the soul represents light. The soul hungers, the spirit thirsts, and each feeds on the element that is complementary to it. The soul, which is feminine, longs to be nourished by the masculine principle and so eats fire, and the spirit, which is masculine, needs to be nourished by the feminine principle and so drinks light. And just as the masculine principle generates the feminine principle, so fire generates light. Light is a manifestation, an emanation of fire. When you light a fire, it is always accompanied by light. And the purer the material that feeds the fire, the finer and clearer the light is.
