Exchanges - are the law of life

When soloists give a concert, they are offering the public their talent, their inspiration and the fruit of their labour. But if the public is unaware of this labour, if they are noisy or simply don’t pay attention, a musician will feel it and, even if they are the greatest virtuoso player in the world, will be unable to give their very best, because the exchanges are not taking place as they should. But it can also happen that a soloist will turn to face the concert hall and catch sight of one person’s expression of wonder and delight. And then they start to play for that person, perhaps without even knowing whether it is a man or a woman. They play for that light shining out there in the darkness and become inspired. Human beings need to feel that their actions and their words find some sort of an echo. If there is no reciprocity, there can be no exchange. And exchange is the law of life.
