Archangel Michael overpowering the dragon - symbol of victory over the lower self

Do you want to be alive, truly alive? Give your higher nature the means to triumph over your lower nature. From the perspective of Initiatic Science, those thoughts, feelings and actions which are not inspired by our higher nature, which do not receive the imprint of the soul and the spirit, lead to death. And yet, you shouldn’t try to destroy your lower self. Firstly, because you will not succeed – you yourself will be destroyed, for not only is it very powerful, it is a part of you. So you must only attempt to master it, to tame it, so that you can benefit from its vitality and its wealth. The same idea is expressed in Revelations by the image of the dragon laid low by Archangel Michael. The archangel does not kill it; he only overpowers it. In the same way, disciples must overpower the dragon of their lower self. Understanding the symbol of the dragon already weakens it. Meditate on this image, and you will go from death to life, from darkness to light, from limitations to infinity, from slavery to freedom, from chaos to harmony.
