Oneself, from - to others: the normal evolution of the human being

Very small children have no concerns other than getting fed and playing with the things around them, and as soon as they feel in the least frustrated they shout and cry. Children are selfish little monsters; yes, but at that age it's natural, and parents know that they cannot ask anything more of them. But children grow up, and if they keep up the same behaviour they are scolded, even lightly smacked, because they must stop relating everything to themselves. Later, they will become adults and experience the need to be part of a couple and have children of their own, and they will understand the need to make sacrifices. Why has Cosmic Intelligence made things this way? So that by having to deal with beings other than themselves (a husband or wife and children, in the first place), humans go beyond their limitations. But how many people have understood the lesson Cosmic Intelligence wants to give them? How many are capable of truly forgetting themselves and showing sincere, disinterested concern for their wife, husband or children?
