Masculine and feminine - on the physical and psychic planes

Seen just from the physical point of view, a human being will be either male or female, and generally the characteristics of each are unmistakeable. But from the psychic point of view, it is much more complicated, for everyone has both masculine and feminine principles within them, and man cannot be reduced to just the masculine principle or woman to just the feminine principle. In the Chinese yin-yang symbol, for example, the yin area, which is black and feminine, contains a white dot, and the yang area, which is white and masculine, contains a black dot, to show that the masculine always possesses a feminine part, and vice versa. Men and women are not abstract principles; they are a combination of the masculine and the feminine in unequal proportions. Also consider the fact that they can change sex from one incarnation to the next. Why? Because Cosmic Intelligence has determined that, in order to evolve and perfect themselves, human beings must experience both conditions, so that they acquire the qualities of the masculine and feminine principles in their fullness.
