King - the symbols of the sceptre and the orb held in his hands
We sometimes see drawings or paintings of a king seated on a throne, holding a staff or sceptre in his right hand and an orb or sphere in the left. The sceptre and orb represent the masculine and feminine principles. The masculine principle is always symbolized by a straight line, a sceptre or caduceus, a pillar, tree, mountain or peak. The feminine principle is symbolized by a sphere, or by a round, hollow object such as a vase or chalice, or a chasm or cave. And the king who is holding the symbols of the two principles is not an earthly king; he is a spiritual king, an initiate who has a profound understanding of the science of the masculine and feminine, and who knows how to unite them within himself in order to create.*
