Hierarchies, angelic - intermediaries between God and us

However elevated you may be spiritually and however fervent your prayers, do not expect to receive a visit from the Lord. If an angel, or maybe an archangel, comes to bring you a message, an atom of light, that in itself will be tremendous. Who are we that God, the Master of worlds, should come to us? And, anyway, we would not be able to withstand the powerful vibrations of his presence. As it says in the Psalms: 'The mountains melt like wax before the Lord', and the angelic orders are the transformers that filter the power down, so that it can reach us without reducing us to dust. It is better to know how things really are, so that we do not wait pointlessly for something that cannot happen and, above all, do not imagine it has already happened, which is even more dangerous. All we can receive from God is a ray, a fragrance, coming from an infinite distance and descending through the angelic hierarchies. Of course, in a way, it is God who is answering us, for God is found at all levels of creation, but he never answers us directly.
